2024 Michigan Top Workplace Awards: Recognizing Outstanding Employers

Nearly 200 Michigan companies have been acknowledged as Top Workplaces for 2024 through a survey assessing workplace culture. The awards, administered by the Detroit Free Press and Energage, included participation from 276 organizations and garnered feedback from 88,570 employees. New winners such as Buddy’s Pizza and Serra Ford GMC were recognized, along with three top executives in different company size categories.

The 2024 Michigan Top Workplace awards have recognized nearly 200 employers across the state, highlighting exemplary workplace culture as determined by employee surveys. To be eligible, organizations needed a minimum of 50 employees and participated through a survey conducted by the Detroit Free Press in collaboration with Energage, which has engaged over 2 million employees across 8,000 companies in the past year. The survey categorized firms by their size: small, medium, and large, with 198 companies ultimately earning Top Workplace distinction this year, marking the 17th iteration of the awards program. During the awarding process, 6,870 companies were invited, and 276 ultimately participated. More than 88,570 employees in Michigan contributed to the survey results, achieving a response rate of 58.1%. Among the winners, 32 were newcomers, including well-recognized local brands such as Buddy’s Pizza and Serra Ford Buick GMC Rochester Hills. In a notable recognition, three executives were awarded the title of top leaders within their respective categories: April Clobes of MSU Federal Credit Union for large workplaces, Todd Sachse of Sachse Construction for mid-sized workplaces, and Richard James of Financial Services of America for small workplaces.

The Michigan Top Workplace program serves to identify and honor organizations that foster outstanding workplace environments through actual employee feedback. Administered by Energage in conjunction with the Detroit Free Press, this initiative provides valuable insights into workplace culture.
