The Wonderful Company Achieves Third Place on the 2024 PEOPLE® Companies That Care List

LOS ANGELES — In a significant recognition of its impactful corporate philanthropy and social responsibility initiatives, PEOPLE® magazine has ranked The Wonderful Company at the No. 3 position on its esteemed 2024 PEOPLE® Companies That Care list. This annual compilation celebrates organizations that exhibit exemplary dedication to their employees and the surrounding communities, a commitment that The Wonderful Company, as one of the largest private enterprises in the United States, has consistently demonstrated through its substantial investments in areas such as education, health and wellness, and infrastructure.

To date, The Wonderful Company, along with its co-founders Lynda and Stewart Resnick and their affiliated foundations, has contributed over $2.5 billion towards philanthropic and CSR efforts on a global scale. As a $6 billion enterprise, The Wonderful Company is recognized for its prominent brands including FIJI Water, POM Wonderful, Wonderful Pistachios, Wonderful Halos, Wonderful Seedless Lemons, Teleflora, and the wines from JUSTIN and Lewis Cellars.

The selection for the PEOPLE® Companies That Care list involved a rigorous evaluation process conducted by Great Place To Work®, which assesses the quality and breadth of benefits provided as well as overall support for employees. Additionally, this independent organization collects feedback through confidential employee surveys that reveal insights into the company culture, leadership effectiveness, and employee relationships.

Lynda and Stewart Resnick articulated their philosophy, stating, “For over 50 years, our company philosophy has been rooted in the commitment to leave behind a better, healthier world. That promise is embodied in our employees, who make a difference every day, and we are so proud that PEOPLE® has recognized and honored their work and commitment. We hope the initiatives we have launched, the investments we have made, and the efforts we strive to implement each day serve as a model for others. Giving back starts in your own backyard.”

Over the past decade, The Wonderful Company and the Resnicks have invested nearly $600 million into the Central Valley of California, which is home to over 3,000 of their employees. The company provides complimentary healthcare services to its workforce, local students, and their families, ensuring that every meal served at their onsite cafeterias is nutritious and prepared from scratch. Furthermore, The Wonderful Company supports approximately 5,000 students across 70 schools, including two public charter schools established by the Resnicks, and awards scholarships of up to $40,000 for 1,000 Wonderful Scholars, primarily children of employees, while offering additional academic support and emotional guidance.

Wendy Naugle, the editor-in-chief of PEOPLE®, remarked, “Every year, we look forward to highlighting the innovative ways these companies give back to their employees, communities, and the world. Celebrating the care and kindness they exhibit aligns seamlessly with our editorial mission — showcasing what is achievable when individuals commit to remarkable endeavors.”

Earlier this year, The Wonderful Company was also recognized as one of Fortune® magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For and acknowledged as one of the Best Places to Work in the Central Valley for its unwavering dedication to employee well-being. Furthermore, in 2023, The Wonderful Company was included on Fast Company’s Brands That Matter list.

To qualify for both the PEOPLE® and Fortune® rankings, organizations must attain Great Place To Work Certification™ and employ a minimum of ten individuals in the United States. Selection as an honoree is predicated on companies’ effectiveness in fostering exceptional employee experiences, transcending variables such as race, gender, age, disability status, and job roles.
